I have registered a domain name which is 36 characters long. I didn’t know there’s a restriction with the number of characters in the url. But i have seen some url’s which are more than 26 characters. Could anyone plz tell me how to resolve this problem??? I have changed the dns, ns and everything needed to put it to work. But it wont just respond. All it shows is the parking page when clicked. the url is www.chittagonginternationalmusicfestival.com. If anyone can tell me what can i do to make it work, it’d be a great help. bty… the site is hosted with awardspace.com free hosting. I thought this guys are pretty cool for a free web hosting provider. and i have couple of domains hosted there which are working fine. Plz help.

I lease a few domain names from godaddy.com and have them parked on sedo.com. Can I sell these domain names on their website or on a similar one? I guess more specifically: Do I have the right to sell them, or is the selling section of the sedo site only for people who actually own their domains, not just lease them?

I’ve read a couple of articles about the subject, but all the good ones are taken, most are being parked but I don’t have much money to bid on any.
The ones I found were +10 letters, a combination of keywords, so my question is, should I play it safe and stick with a keworded domain or pick a shorter one that is easier and remember and doesn’t point to the subject directly ( web 2.0 stuff )? note that I am willing to create original content by myself.

I’m in the middle of starting a small business and I was wanting to register [businessname].com. I found out that someone had parked the domain name and asked them if they wanted to sell the domain. He said yes and said that he valued it at $8,000. First of all this domain has no traffic, backlinks and all rankings (Alexa, Compete, pagerank, etc.) are all 0. I find the $8,000 ridiculous. The price range I was thinking was from $10 to the maximum of $300.
I also have plans to register this business name and then trademark it. Do I or will I have any kind of way to get this domain from him, since he obviously has no rights or personal interest other than charging an insane amount?
Does anyone have any advice? Been through a similar situation?
Thanks in advance!

I know nothing about web design and I’m not at a stage of building a web site yet. I just want to go to step #1 and get the name registered. I also want to do it through a service that doesn’t charge much so I’m open to company recommendations. Thank you!

How can I park on the name I want so I grab it first – without paying for it?

I’m talking to a guy through email about possibly being able to buy a domain name that I wanted, but he owns. Is there a specific process to buying a domain name from the current owner?
Whats to stop him from getting the money from me and then just keeping the domain name?
Is there a standard (or semi-standard) way to decide on a price based on traffic and stuff like that. The website is currently parked on Godaddy.com and has no content, and has been since Nov 06 when it was purchased according to the WhoIs record.
Any help would be great. thanks.

I have over 100 websites registered. I want to park them with a DNS hosting service or domain hosting service. Are there some cheaper service providers.
