when I register a new domain name with yahoo or go daddy or whomever where does go. can I own it for life.?

I want to register a domain and own it for life as long as I pay for it. Once I pay for the name and its approved where does the final registry sit , with whom and is it mine forever as long as I pay.

Yahoo is known to be quick…

I rather go with Yahoo, since it is spam free and it is a name you can trust. They have cheap prices as well.

And yes the domain you buy from a provider is yours. But if you buy a package like a host + domain is free, the company can find a way to steal that from you.

So buy the domain separated.. and Then buy the host.
But for Yahoo, if you buy something it is yours 101%… Unless you do illegal stuff, USA will bound to take it.

So your under USA laws. If your afraid of that buy it from europe.

Is it safe to delete the domain names in my registry?

I went to regedit and thought that if i delete some keys it may make my computer faster and i noticed a lot of keys under domains under HKEY Current User; before I deleted anything i want to make sure its safe.

DON’T DO IT MANUALLY !

You could NUKE your computer.

1) Use Glary Utilities to do it safely: http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html

It removes junk files, remnants of installs/uninstalls and unneeded registry entries .

Hope this helps

Domain Name Transfer —- help !!!!!!?

Hi guys,

My Domain fee last year was $9.95 & all the sudden they bumped it up to $19.95

I want to stay with the current host….because I would hate to star setting up my website all over again!

So my question is…. Can I just re-new my Domain Name with another registry & still keep my host? Or am I required to but the domain name for the host?

Help please!!!!! Any info of how to go about it will help greatly

You will need to transfer your domain name to another host. This is not a big deal and is done everyday. Find the hosting company that has prices that you like,,,then contact them and ask them to assist you transferring your domain name to their service.

They will be more than happy to assist you to transfer your domain name.

It will not change your web hosting service as they are usually held by different companies.

I have GoDaddy for my domain service and AddAction for my web hosting….Just make sure you check the prices before you contact the domain service you choose.

Help with Domain Names and Hosting!?

I am looking for a good reliable Domain Name Registry and a Hosting Service. I want to start a small site in the next couple of weeks and have heard that you shouldn’t go with the same Domain Registry and Hosting Company. I am from Australia so I wouldn’t have minded an Australian Company (so that I can call them etc) but couldn’t find any that looked legitimate. I have been recommended GoDaddy but was hoping someone who has used them (maybe from Australia too could tell me if they are ok). Also if anyone has tried any really good Australian ones, please let me know. I use to know a lot more good Domain and Hosting sites (but my computer crashed and I lost all my favourites) so all I can think of is GoDaddy and something with the word Monster in it.
I would really appreciate your help! Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

I have 77 domain names with GoDaddy only because supercheap coupons are all over the web like at http://www.retailmenot.com otherwise I wouldn’t give GoDaddy 2 blinks. The site is not user friendly, has some pretty annoying quirks and you must do everything manually.

Ironically, I find the paypal feature on GoDaddy to the only real upfront, automatic feature. Figures. I solved that by redirecting all my domains to my current host, Hostmonster. I wrote un unbiased review about Hostmonster: http://dubaitechs.com
…a godaddy review is in the works.

It’s a rule of thumb to not go with the cheapest out of fear of getting what you pay for. But GoDaddy is #1 as far as popularity and with the encouragement of using coupon codes, I find it extremely affordable. If you’ve never heard of a company, don’t register with them.

As far as registry and hosting, each company has it’s own features in both areas. GoDaddy is an great registrar but they suck at hosting. Hostmonster is a great host but their registration is very low. That’s only due to a lack of marketing.

Hope it helps.

I need a web Domain. What are important factors to consider? Which domain registry company do you recommend?

I am interested to buy a domain name. There is a price difference between different companies. Is that matter the company with whom I register the domain?

I use Godaddy for my domain names they are the best and if you search google for godaddy coupons you will get like 10% off

as for the domain name you should read this article, it has good advise

What is the web adress for the national web domain registry?

I want to own my web domain name and not have to pay a middleman.

http://www.icann.org/
But they do not register domains – they establish who is accredited as a registrar.
On the verisign website you will find a list of all .com registrars. Register your domain name with any one of them. It shouldn’t cost you more than $12-$15 dollars per year for your domain name, and often registration comes free if you purchase a hosting plan.

How to register and pay for a dot UK domain name from overseas?

I have a client. He wants me to take over his hosting and DNS management. I do this for a living. Know plenty.

BUT: We have a problem. His domain with a dot UK extension was registered by a UK registry that now informs us that they can accept payment ONLY from a UK addressed credit card.

My client has moved to Thialand now and does not have a UK credit card, nor do I.

I need the name of a good registrar who can fulfull the following needs:

1. Ability to pay for dot UK name using Thai / Foreign credit card.

2. Ability to process DNS transfer from existing registrar

3. Easy to use and understand user interface

Any suggestions would be very, very welcome indeed because I am somewhat lost in this matter just now.

Cheers and Thanks
I am NOT trying to scam anybody thanks buddies. I live in Thailand. We have a lot of expatriated UK folks here. Many had sites back home with dot uk domain names. They want me to take over web design, web hosting and DNS management. This is what my company do for a living, you see? NO SCAM. Just want some info please.

how can i understand the exact expire date of my Domain name?

can i be sure that at this date my domain will expire?
in whois.com this text was displayed:
NOTICE: The expiration date displayed in this record is the date the registrar’s sponsorship of the domain name registration in the registry is currently set to expire. This date does not necessarily reflect the expiration date of the domain name registrant’s agreement with the sponsoring registrar. Users may consult the sponsoring registrar’s Whois database to view the registrar’s reported date of expiration for this registration.

Well it means that they(whois) get an expire date from the provider, but it can change. if the day of expire comes they still can extend it.
