My domain expired two years ago, and they parked a dummy search engine (basically one of those "ad’s disguised as content" portals, that steal the click-thru revenue from the rightful recipients). Anyway, the content they put up there has nothing to do with the domain name, and they somehow feel justified in charging a person who is on SSI $10,000 to renew the name…. (atom12.com was the domain, if you are curious). Not only that, they stole screenshots and text (word for word) off my site from when it was active, and are using it as an example of "what they can do for you" ( http://www.aboutus.org/atom12.com ). It is the shadiest thing thats happened to me for a while. Trying to deal with such a huge, overbearing company has been stressful and has gotten me no-where. I guess I’ll check out the BBB, ICANN, ICPEN, or WIPO organizations to see if they can help…. but I feel powerless (not to mention stepped on)
In response to ‘thebonehead’: No, not quite a coma – but 3 surgeries and about 60% of my gut… valid enough? I was asking if anyone else had an issue, I was not asking for your advice. Thanks though.
So just get a new one. Accidentally expired 2 years ago? Were you in a coma? Not being mean, just saying this is the consequence of letting it expire, learn and move on.
Best of luck!

Firstly if you purchase a Domain Name to run your online business is this an expense that can be deducted or is it an asset?
Secondly if you are in the business of trading domains, and have purchased for example 250 domains with the intent to sell, though are also earning advertising revenue in the meantime are they considered trading stock or could they be just considered operating expenses?
Can i deduct the expense of all 250 domain names?
Also note that technically one never ‘owns’ a domain name, they are simply leases. So for that reason i don’t think i can count them as ‘trading stock’ and i should therefore be able to just deduct the entire amount i spent on buying the domain names as an expense in running my online business?
Is that correct?
Are you in the business of buying and selling domain names? If this is the case, yes, they are trading stock. However, you can’t deduct the cost of them till you sell them. They are considered stock on hand if you haven’t sold them, which is an asset. Once you sell them, they become Costs of Goods sold, and are deducted from the proceeds of the sale.
If your business is something else, and you bought the domain names in the running of your business this is a different story. Domain Names are considered intellectual Property and therefore are an asset. They may be able to be amortised.
I note you said you don’t own a domain name you lease it. However, you own the "lease" to the domain name, which can be bought and sold, and this to is considered an asset. Much like how a Crayfish licence can be bought and sold and goes on capital account for tax purposes (ie capital gains) rather than revenue account (ie income). Leased assets however may be deducted as you make payments over the life of the asset. Please note for tax purposed, deducting the repayments of a lease is different to amortising the leased asset and the interest portion for accounting purposes.
Which ever way you look at it, whether trading stock, or as an asset of intellectual property or a lease, they can not be deducted straight away.
You should see your accountant as you will be able to give him/her more information as to exactly what the terms of these domain names are.

My name is Rajib.I want an Adsense website set up,on any niche topic-a small website-to be frank-for earning revenue.I have a domain name registered, plus a hosting account-now I need someone to write the material and set it up for me-at reasonable cost, since my means are limited. It could be on any topic under the sun.If necessary I’ll buy a new domain and hosting account if that’s the condition for setting up a website. It should be small, focussed and capable of earning revenue through Adsense ads.
Hey Rajib…
Im totally confused. There are adsense websites who make from 0.1$ to thousands per day…
Researching niche, writing content, getting links, making SEO etc is a huge work…
Lets say i build website thats earning 10$ per day… thats 3600$/year, would you pay that much?
If you compare hosting and domain name fees with this…
you know what i mean.
You should have at least ready, researched niche that only needs website and content.

I know this question is trite — but I want to register a specific domain name and continually post content to it (its going to be a sports reporting site).
I intend to host a lot of pictures, and have a message board to complement the page.
I am interested in the following things:
(1) Who should I register my domain with?
(2) Do I need to get someone to host my website after I’ve registered? If so, who should I go with (just one domain, modest space, email not really necessary, and preferably not TOO expensive)
(3) How should I build my page?
(4) What are the best ways to derive revenue for web pages that aren’t too intrusive to the website itself?
Thanks in advance!
How to List a Domain Name
There are two principal steps to make your website on the internet and registering/booking a domain name is the number one.
A domain name builds the address of your site and can end in . com, . net, . org, . info, . us, . biz, . tv and further.
Directly afer you have registered your name, you will pick a web host (2nd step). The web host is the guts of any website as this is where you build and publish your pages, build purchase fillings, insert service and preserve your site.
How to Select the Best Domain Name
If being in the foremost search engines (Yahoo!, MSN, etc. ) is tremendously essential to you, I extremely urge you index a name that includes your major keywords as an alternative of your enterprise name.
Imagine about it. The normal visitor searches by theme, not by correct name. So why it may seem cool to have a name corresponding Jack’sLinux. com, you’ll wish to select a name that contains keywords that your intended spectators would likely use when they search.
So with that in thinking, a name like Begin-using-Linux. com would be much enhanced than Jack’sLinux. com. Sure, you can still list your corporation name on your web pages, but I think it’s more important to make sure the domain name consist of your eminent "search friendly" keywords if you want to receive traffic from all over.
No doubt, you can still register your firm name on the web site some area, but your domain name will consist of all the significant keywords you’ll want to be found with.
How to Register a Domain Name
Ordering a domain name is easy and very budget pleasant. You don’t need to compensate $35 per year like you would if you listed with big companies.
I’ll illustrate you how to save a bundle at www.domain-name-register-store.com – and you’ll pick up admirable client help desk that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The big name companies cost silly rates such as $30-35/year for an individual domain name, and you gain the matching feature at http://www.domain-name-register-store.com for 60% or even less.
How to Profit Online with Parked Domain Names
Making money online from parked domain names seems to be an unfamiliar concept to many people. The concept is simple:
1. You register a domain name. (my recommendation http://www.domain-name-register-store.com/)
2. Then park the domain name to a domain parking company. (Free with every domain name at http://www.domain-name-register-store.com/)
3. The domain parking company will create a parked page for your domain. name with sponsored ads, links and search box inside the parked page. Some domain parking services even will add relevant articles and content to the parked page.
4. You earn ad revenue for the traffic generated by you to the parked domain. Some domain parked services will share ad revenue with you and some allow you to display your AdSense ads and keep 100% of the AdSense commission earn.
So make your move NOW!
Good Luck,
Vera.

To better understand exactly what I’m talking about , do a search, "hairstylist.com" ..
Note:
http://www.hairstylist.com, this is just cash Parked w/ godaddy.
1).I do Not have a site yet..
2). Can You explain exactly what is going on ?
3). How can help me to understand how to use this and earn income from them …(captalize on this) …
4). where can I find HELP to get hooked-up like this ?
5) Can you tell me what to do NEXT?
Pls. do a web search "hairstylist.com"
To see what I’m talking about..and how it is being used to benefit other websites on the search engine…
Maybe, if somone saw the value in it. But, Im a little skeptical. After all, can someone order a haircut from you in Africa and you send it to them? I dont think so.
It may help you, however, for local customers looking for a hairstylist who google it and your name comes to the top. That may be worth it to someone. Contact your competitors and see what, if anything, they would pay you for this.

Basically I have a domain name that I don’t want to put a website on, but I would like links to advertisers that I can generate revenue from. Similar to what network solutions does when there is a website that is owned but not yet built. I want to go through a company that will put the links on my site and will send me a share of the revenue. Anybody know of a company that does this service?
almost all web hosting companies do it – i know for sure that godaddy.com and 1and1.com do it.

I have done everything imaginable for this to work with SEO ( Search engine optimization). But unsure why this is a failure. I also purchased my own domain name www.dlusb.co.uk. Has anyone ever made eBay partners work for them is this possible or is this adverting online business rubbish.
Anyone in the business and could help. I am willing to pay for a service to rectify the problem.
Hi,
I visited your website and notice that it has no page rank nor is it showing any traffic on alexa.com. I would probably do more keyword research for the products you are promoting by using google’s keyword tool and try to find keywords related to your niche that have over 1000 searches per day but only have 10-20 thousand competing pages. Then after you find those keywords start doing your link building by writing articles with those keywords in the title and a few times in the article, then in the bio use the keywords as a link to your site. Then you can also build pages about your niche on sites like squidoo, hubpages, zimbio etc.
That should help you get going I think!
