Where can I find the cheapest web hosting and domain names?

I want to host bulk domain names or get free hosting. I know that this probably does not exist. I want to host 5 domain names on one hosting plan.

Have you tried http://nicepricesites.com/ ? They actually have free web hosting and you can upload to your site with FTP. I wouldn’t recommend that you use their domain names because you always want a unique domain name. I do use the free hosting for one of my wordpress blogs. I have my other blogs hosted there also along with the domain names.

Hope this helps.

How do domain names really work?

I know that there are databases where domain names and IP addresses are matched? But how do those correspond to what we see on the internet?

And when you pay for a domain name what are you actually paying for if your just putting an entry in a database?

Domain names = the address of the domain holder on the WAN.
When you click a link, or enter a ‘www’ address, your computer sends a ‘packet’ that requests a ‘visit’ to that address.
(Think of it as a ‘drive thru’ window at McDonalds).
Your packet requests a specific page; it may be to look at the entire menu (the homepage or index), or it may be a specific item on the menu (some specific page for whatever stuff is available at the ‘window’).
That ‘drive thru’ then sends whatever it has available, from all the available items, back to you, as your packet has requested.

Payments are for maintaining the addresses, running the servers, overhead, etc.

How do we earn from buying and selling domain names?

As everybody know’s, theer is soemthing called "buying and selling domain names".Now, hoe dow e go about it? how do we knwo which domain is required for whoel and how to earn from this and how much profit one can earn by selling one domain?

You need to do market research on the "hot" phrases and words in the world. You check if there are any hot domains available and you buy them. Once you have got your domain name, you wait until the price starts to rise 10x, 20x more than you payed by yourself, then you sell it :) this is just basic explanation of this concept.

How are webistes and domain names such a good investment?

I have recently spoke wiith my financial advisor about purchasing domain names and building websites. He said since I have some extra capital to use this could be a very exiciting and lucrative venture. There are two domain names up for auction on godaddy that I am interested in one is www.fasttires.com the other is www.findyourdreamgirl.com. Fasttires is already going for $40,000 and findyourdreamgirl.com is listed for $18,995 my advisor thinks this is a good price to move on before it goes up it could be the next match.com. What do you guys know about these sort of investments I want to build my own web business.

This is in no way an investment. Investing indicates a reasonable potential gain while this is pure speculation and probably better termed gambling.

His advice is unbelievably stupid (probably the worst advice ever) and you need to fire him this second. He probably wears slip on shoes because he can’t figure out how to tie regular ones. Ask him this question… How can I be sure that www.findMYdreamgirl.com, FindINGyourdreamgirl.com, findyourdreamGUYORgirl.com,www.fydg.com, etc aren’t the next match.com. The value of a domain is based on traffic and it’s unlikely that www.findyourdreamgirl.com will generate any. What is the incentive for women (read 50% of the population) to go there? This could be an adult site but with millions and millions of those sites why would yours be any better? If there isn’t a bullet proof answer to that one (and just so you know in advance THERE ISN’T) then you have your answer.

I’m not quite sure what kind of business you would be trying to build is it selling tires or is it selling women? I think both markets are pretty much saturated at this point (or rightfully illegal).

I recommend that instead of doing this you throw a massive block party and show everyone what it’s like to burn money in a big pile that will be a huge hit. Invite your ex advisor because he’s probably very famaliar with the process of burning money (after all look at his advice).

What is the best way to maximize the revenue from parked domain names?

For instance I have heard radio commercials for parked domain names but I always thought that was a violation of the aggregators terms of service.

Most domain name parking companies do not allow outside promotion or linking to parked pages. Check your terms of service before you try anything.

You should be able to select the keywords on your page, however most search engines will not index a parked page. The key is to have a good domain name that receives a lot of type in traffic.

is it good to buy and redirect 301 domain names for SEO purposes?

I found a directory with bunch of expired domain names – the directory page where those domain names are actually has PR = 3

my plan is to redirect them to my main domain

Is it good for SEO or matters little?

Not if the search engines catch you. Than bad things will happen to your search ranking.

In my experience, It’s much more effective to simply blog (v6transition.com) about your site and to have a facebook (facebook.com) account for your site.

What is the best place to list my domain names for sale?

I am just starting in buying and selling premium domain names. I was wondering what brokers or websites I can more likely sell a high value domain on? ($5,000-$1,000,000 value).

For example, I list good domains on eBay for a great price and they do not sell. What would be another great option? Thanks.

If you want maximum $$ list with Sedo or submit to a Moniker auction. Could take a while to sell but best bet for top dollar for real premium names.

If you are in a hurry to sell try EBay or a domain name forum where resellers hangout like DNForum, NamePros, NameMatters. You are unlikely to get the best price at these venues but they should result in a quick sale if price is flexible.

Check out Afternic and TDNam.

There are hundreds of domain name sales pages on the web that will accept your listing, many for free.

You could attempt to sell directly to an end user by contacting businesses/individuals that might want to use the name. Time consuming, but end user sales are nearly always the best way to get top dollar.

Best way to sell depends on the name, how quickly you wish to sell and whether you want top dollar or will settle for something less.

What stopped any single company from buying up all the good domain names in the Internets beginning?

Example lets say you were a company that had the ability to create domain names to sell….. what stopped any particular company from creating and hold for themselves all the good one word www names like … cooking.com , autos.com, or anything else you can imagine.. for themselves?

Quite simply, nobody thought of it. Remember, back then, folks weren’t nearly as net-savvy as they are now, and no-one thought that domain names would go for the sort of crazy money being asked for them now.
The purpose for which the net was originally programmed (of exchanging information/data between scientists) never even envisaged the sort of net we have now. By the time folks started to realise what was happening, it was way too late for anyone to try this sort of stunt–they’d have needed the resources of Lichtenstein, the Bahamas and the gnomes of Zurich all rolled into one. Maybe this is a good thing–after all, can you imagine what would happen if someone like Bill Gates got control over domain names??

Hope This of Help
