Hi. I am interested in a domain name – but it is taken already and expires early 2009. I wanted to know if anyone knew any good websites to where you can backorder domain names. And if so, is it a guarantee if say the person who has the domain name right now, if he/she doesn’t renew it next year, will I get that domain name if I place a backorder now? Or is it just like a lottery where anyone who places a backorder can get that domain name?
Try GoDaddy. Thats about all I can recommend. Sedo which you were linked to in the last answer will also take care of buying the domain off the current owner if you really want it, but that’ll probably cost you some big bucks.

No. You can check individual domains, so you can certainly tell whether Company A owns a certain domain, but there are no laws that govern who can own a domain, and the domain registrar does not care who pays for it. By this reasoning, Company A may own no domains at all, but the IT Director may own hundreds, all of which were paid for by Company A. So even if you could search by owner, it would be non-informative at best.
At one point, InterNIC issued unique ID’s to all registrants, technical, and admin contacts, which was supposed to help in tracking who owned what, but the pool grew so large that it became impossible to maintain. Furthermore, if a user didn’t keep track of his ID, he would be issued a new one each time he registered (I think I had four at one point).

I currently own 22 domain names and am interested in selling them. Can anyone recommend a certain method I should use to sell these domain names? I already have a career so I don’t want to make a career out of selling domain names. I want to use a method that is nice and simple, gains my domain names good exposure and isn’t too costly. There are numerous venues to sell domain names. tdnam.com is GoDaddy’s auction site. It’s free to list your domain for sale if GoDaddy is the registrar. eBay is another viable venue to sell domain names. I’ve sold a handful of domains on eBay, and it’s a fairly easy process. There is also sedo.com. It’s one of the best known locations to sell domains. They sell some of the biggest, most expensive domain names around. It really depends on how much your domain is valued when using sedo.com. They charge a minimum for $50 for a completed sale. Another good resource for selling domain names is NamePros.com. I bought two domain names and I want to point them both to the same web host. Basically, I have a website up at a web hosting place and I would like to point two domain names to it. I have the DNS addresses for my web hosting place, but can it share two domain names?
Yes it can. One will be the main domain, and the other will be an "add-on domain" it shouldn’t cost you any extra. IMO, get a host that uses cpanal, its the best control panal out there, and worth the extra dollar or two you’ll pay a month, by a LOT.

I have registered 4 domain names and i want to put it up into 1 website, so that it will redirect. i have ,info .net and ,ca and want it to connect to 1 main website when a viewer puts example.ca or example.net

I have many domain names. Some I would like to park. Others I may want to sell. Some I want to build websites for. How do I find out reliable statistics of how much traffic they are receiving? None are currently hosted.
You can view your stats in AwStats, Webalizer … etc on your cPanel.

I want to host bulk domain names or get free hosting. I know that this probably does not exist. I want to host 5 domain names on one hosting plan.
Have you tried http://nicepricesites.com/ ? They actually have free web hosting and you can upload to your site with FTP. I wouldn’t recommend that you use their domain names because you always want a unique domain name. I do use the free hosting for one of my wordpress blogs. I have my other blogs hosted there also along with the domain names.

I have recently spoke wiith my financial advisor about purchasing domain names and building websites. He said since I have some extra capital to use this could be a very exiciting and lucrative venture. There are two domain names up for auction on godaddy that I am interested in one is www.fasttires.com the other is www.findyourdreamgirl.com. Fasttires is already going for $40,000 and findyourdreamgirl.com is listed for $18,995 my advisor thinks this is a good price to move on before it goes up it could be the next match.com. What do you guys know about these sort of investments I want to build my own web business.
This is in no way an investment. Investing indicates a reasonable potential gain while this is pure speculation and probably better termed gambling.
His advice is unbelievably stupid (probably the worst advice ever) and you need to fire him this second. He probably wears slip on shoes because he can’t figure out how to tie regular ones. Ask him this question… How can I be sure that www.findMYdreamgirl.com, FindINGyourdreamgirl.com, findyourdreamGUYORgirl.com,www.fydg.com, etc aren’t the next match.com. The value of a domain is based on traffic and it’s unlikely that www.findyourdreamgirl.com will generate any. What is the incentive for women (read 50% of the population) to go there? This could be an adult site but with millions and millions of those sites why would yours be any better? If there isn’t a bullet proof answer to that one (and just so you know in advance THERE ISN’T) then you have your answer.
I’m not quite sure what kind of business you would be trying to build is it selling tires or is it selling women? I think both markets are pretty much saturated at this point (or rightfully illegal).
I recommend that instead of doing this you throw a massive block party and show everyone what it’s like to burn money in a big pile that will be a huge hit. Invite your ex advisor because he’s probably very famaliar with the process of burning money (after all look at his advice).

It will be near impossible for you to set up such a system. But that’s just from me judging by your information/because it seems you have very little knowledge in such a field.
