Okay I saw Zlio mentioned several times in answers about money on yahoo Answers.
So being somewhat cynical I have joined up and opened a pet product store pamperedpup. My kid opened a store to for selling music stuff.
I read a couple of general web reviews from googling information and they didn’t say if they made money only how easy it is to set up… 5 minutes they said…
Well that is true for basic but it takes a lot of work to complete all the modules and add product. I am wondering if it is worth it. I didn’t buy domain name becaues I am not wanting to sink any money in unless it will pay off.
It is already showing up in google which is good – along with lot of other actual websites that sell directly not like (commision of products)
Being cynical I am now wondering if ANYONE has made money from Zlio or a website that is like it?
Thanks for the info.
EDIT TO ADD
I guess that one thing that occurs to me is that it is all on honor system of the partner companies to report sales back to zlio and then zlio to credit you with commish!
Would that be your observation?
It’s a joke
Don’t waste your time

I was on what I thought was a local website. In the forum there was a promo for a mayoral candidate. I checked their privacy policy then joined the forum so I could ask some questions of him. My user name came up with the questions. But when the candidate responded in less than 2 hrs. he called me by my REAL full name (not to mention being hateful) and made reference to the area where I live. When I checked the domain owner’s name it was a different name & gender in a town two cities over. So either he is hiding his website’s identity to get more info or the owner gave him my personal info. he press seems to think this is no big deal as does the attorney general. So does this mean it’s another law without teeth?
try this site. http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

In particular, I would be creating a website (with my own domain name/host) that would contain photos, bios, interviews, videos, and links regarding my friend’s band who was just signed by Interscope Records.
I tried the whole myspace/xanga thing before, and yeah, that didn’t exactly work. My parents knew about all of those cases involving child molesters and what not, so I am completely done with that.
But keeping in mind that that is where their concerns are coming from, what would be your rules as to what I could include/do with this website? Thus far, I have these rules, which were established as general internet rules after the myspace scenario:
Do not talk badly about your parents, family, or life
Do not swear
Do not post any thing obscene
Do not post any personal information
Do not post e-mail addresses or contact forms
Do not post about breaking the law or any rules
As a parent, what other concerns would you have?
What I want the website to include, thus far:
A photo gallery of the band, which might include middle fingers, and no-shirt photos (but nothing more).
A bio for each band member, including instruments, how they got involved in the band, age, status (single/in relationship), goals for group, etc
Bio on the band altogether; how did this band get started, and what happened along the way?
Links to band members’ individual myspace pages (and these people DO have friends in their friends lists that completely break my rules)
A link to buy the CD
Link to Interscope Records
Possibly a videographed biography of the band that includes pictures and plays the best song of the group in the background.
And in the bottom corner of the head page, I would really like to put my first and last name, but nothing more, just:
"Created and Managed by "Jane Doe"
Oh yeah, and I cannot have a profile within the site
I would completely consider not even having a link to the webmaster’s e-mail because my parents would probably say that that is giving out my e-mail address.
But thanks for all of the suggestions! Keep them coming!
On the same note, though, I would kind of like to have an e-mail link so that fans who visit the site can submitt photos and such. I want them to be a part of this too.
After everything that happened with myspace, I am unbelievably paranoid as to how to bring this up with my parents; thus far, I have like 15 pages typed up of FAQ/everything that will and won’t be included on the site. I won’t even be asking them about it for another 3 weeks (and what I mean by that is that I will have to iron out all of the details/possbile questions beforehand).
The purpose of the website would be to advertise. Before I came up with the notion, I e-mailed over 2,000 radio stations simply telling them about the band, but now, I’m thinking that maybe I can SHOW them.
and to the one that isn’t a parent; thanks for the last name concern.
meesh: Actually, they’re based out of Las Vegas, and I’m on the other side of the country.
In regards to what you’re saying, the last thing that I want this website to be about is me. One thing that I have and will never do is post any kind of photo of myself on the internet. I’ve learned from my myspace/xanga experience that I cannot post a single thing about myself; my age, location, physical traits, personality, activities, school, home life, flaws, none of that.
[and I hope that you're right about them approving!]
Which of these photos would be innapropriate? I did not create this video, by the way:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPDl73z21Lk
I’m not a parent, but I’ll be having a little girl in a few weeks.
On top of what you mentioned, I’d also want to make sure that there were no pictures of my daughter up there. No comments or allusions to the location – if it is a small, local band, that is just getting started, chances are they perform near your home right? I wouldn’t want any hint of where you lived on there. No talking about your school, your activities, anything that could allow someone to find you. It’s easy to put things together – a picture of you, a brief blurb that mentions where you live, and talking about your track team going to state means that someone could easily find you if they wanted to.
Also, no one should ever put their full name on the internet, child or adult. I’d consider your first name or maybe a false name, but not your full name.
If you want to have an email link, maybe you could set up an email address just for that purpose. One you didn’t use for anything else. Use an anonymous name – ABCbandwebmaster@whatever.com – so that it’s harder to find out who you are.
It sounds like you have this really planned out, and have considered your parents’ concerns. I’d say you have a decent chance at getting your parents to sign off on this. They will appreciate the time you took to plan it and will definitely be impressed with the level of responsibility you have taken as far as their fears and your personal safety are concerned.

When i went to Help & support in windows Xp Professional..
I was Looking at My Computer INFORMATION -GENERAL
At the right side Under
"General Computer Info" Where it Shows My System name, Domain, Time Zone, Connection, Proxy Server, IP Address, and IPX Address…
I notice that the IPX address Is Saying "Not Enabled"
its showing my IP Address Number, But Not The
IPX Address……What is that anyway?
I can still connect to the internet, but its saying This……
IPX Address: Not Enabled
Do i have to worry about that?
IPX addressing was used in Novell networks. It was replaced by TCP/IP in NetWare 5.0, as the default network protocol.
Don’t worry about it, just ignore it.

I’m starting a fitness blog and I’d love the Answers community to help me choose the name (and domain.) The blog will deal with diet, training and general fitness and nutrition. I’d like to focus on the mind-body connection in training and fitness, as well as healthy foods/recipes that are appropriate for all levels of people, whether you are a bodybuilder or new to fitness. Lots of third-party health and diet information, video of specific exercises, recipes, training plans and of course some of the shared wisdom from Yahoo Answers. I’d also like this to be a supplemental reference area for many of my Yahoo Answers. So here are the options for you to choose from:
www.answerfitness.com
www.fitnesslust.com
www.fitnessriot.com
www.fitnessteach.com
www.fitnessthought.com
www.thefitnessnerd.com
www.thoughtfitness.com
I’d like to be a bit edgy with the name. However, I want to know which name would intrigue you the most and make you want to visit.
Also, please explain why you like the name you choose. I’m interested in knowing how it makes you feel, what attracts you to it, what it conveys, etc. Thanks!
And yes, it’s going to be free.
I like the fitnessthought idea…maybe because so many people think about becoming fit long before they take action. There’s a world of conflicting information out there, and many become lost in swamp of false, or innaccurate information. The website will also offer your thoughts as well as knowledge, so I think it’s a pretty suitable name.
I know you didn’t ask for new ideas, so I’m going to go out on a limb and offer a few thoughts of my own. You know how when you’re working out and you hit a "zone" where you pass the fatigue, and can push yourself further? It made me think of www.thefitnesszone.com…a zone is also a region that is created for a particular purpose…in your case, fitness.
I also thought of www.fitnessfocused.com, and something really catchy..www.the fitnessgodfather.com…LOL..which fits you well.
You mentioned third party info, so if you ever want any recipes, just drop me an email
Good luck in your new project!

Come on Answers community, I know I can’t compete with the lovely [?]KaCiE LyNn[?] and her question about whether "you’ve ever thought about turning gay" (apologies KaCiE) but this is serious business … I’m naming a blog afterall. She got 33 Answers!
Can I get more than three Answers here.
Make that four Answers (thank you Diane!) And thank you Liz, ?? ??§? ??§ ?Ê?? ?Ï?, and Stardust. I need feedback and insight here … throw a guy a bone, please.
I like www.fitnesslust.com
It sounds different enough that it will arose curiosity b/c it has an undertone of seduction. That may draw in some traffic (or twisted minds) that would not ordinarily be interested in visiting a fitness blog, but that’s still traffic, and an opportunity to get people interested in the information there. At the same time, you will capture people across a broad spectrum — from people at the highest level who are already seriously interested in fitness to newbies who are trying to find information to get started.
You always have some really good, and well thought out answers. I am glad you decided to do the blog … Best of luck!

My dad wants to build a website for himself so that he could put up his music and stuff like that. The thing is that he’s asking me for information. But I have never established a website so I don’t know what to tell him. Can someone give me some general information on how to establish a website. He wants the URL to be his nickname. Could I create a website just from my computer or would I have to rent/purchase a domain name? Where do I start?
The simplest method for creating a successful, working website that I have found is Site Build It. You’ll follow a simple, straightforward action guide to select a domain name, build web pages and add media to the pages.
You can do it from any computer and don’t have to download software or learn programming.
It costs $300, which is $25 per month and it is SO worth it just for the tools and support included.

to buy a domain name & web hosting account.
May I know how much it cost in total for both and
which are providing good.
my website deals/gives a general information about
travelling,fares,jobs etc…so I may create with 5-6 html
pages for my website. And a small fedback form..
And I would like to earn from my site by ads/postings.
so
-how much web space I need for it & how much I need
to invest for getting that web space through webhosting account.
Thnks
