Most people doubtless think the Mill Creek collection is made up solely of forgotten movies by no-name personalities. But proven masterpieces and cult favorites can be found everywhere, even in the public domain.
Take this early work by Peter Jackson, one of the finest producer-directors plying the craft today. [Show something unusually stupid.] Before District 9, Lord of the Rings and King Kong, Jackson helmed Bad Taste, a zero-budget sci-fi-horror parody in which malevolent space aliens, in need of carrion for an intergalactic fast food chain, conquer a small New Zealand town and harvest its inhabitants. The powers that be, fearing panic if they mobilize the military, instead summon an, ahem, elite fighting force known as The Boys in the hopes of taking care of things quietly. As our heroes reconnoiter the town they get separated.
Disaster strikes when one of them is hurt rather badly while battling with the alien zombies. Ow. Meanwhile the invaders hole up in a country home and abduct a nerdy collector to turn into kiwiburgers. An interminable firefight with the stamina of a Neil Peart drum solo ensues, and many lives innocent and guilty alike are lost before the worlds can be set right again.
Bad Taste is, in a word, gross. In three words, its really, really gross. Someve said that because Bad Taste is essentially a slapstick comedy, the gore isnt quite as disgusting as it could be. To my mind Bad Tastes lightheartedness actually makes it more disgusting. In a really disturbing horror movie, the emotional impact of a violent scene can dilute the visceral revulsion at the blood and guts hell, even a bad movie that takes itself too seriously isnt going to literally turn your stomach the way Bad Taste does.
But its hard to call this a criticism since nausea is clearly the reaction the movies after. That and laughs. Bad Taste is awful funny, and its humor can be urbane just as much as it can be broad and physical. [ministry of works joke] Jackson and company made Bad Taste over several years on a budget rumored to be around 30 grand. Although no one would mistake the result for Lord of the Rings (its actually much better), theres no doubt the moviemakers put their meager funds to work. The movies often accused of being slipshod or improvised, but its dialog is in fact tight and its shots are crisp and well laid out. Very little, other than sheep guts, is wasted. Jackson, in other words, made up for the projects budget limitations by paying attention to the things that are free: detailed and patient planning. You can see why he eventually caught the attention of the big studios.
There seems to have been something in the air about the time Bad Taste was made: The world, for better or worse, was plainly ready for the genre of gore slapstick. In what is as far as I know a coincidence, a very similar and, if its possible, even more stomach-churning movie called Street Trash came out the same year, and I had trouble watching Bad Taste without thinking of the admittedly somewhat later first-person shooter Doom, which shares not only the earlier movies fascination with humorously copious fusillades of automatic weapons fire, but also most of Bad Tastes specific armament.
A mid-20s Peter Jackson also stars as Derek, a squinty Dr. Who nerd who nevertheless provides command and control for The Boys until his unfortunate accident. As a directorial cameo its both modest and demanding. Jackson seems to have put himself at some genuine personal risk in a knee-wobbling scene on a high cliff, for instance, but his sacrifices dont tempt him to aggrandize his character. Dereks uniquely privileged vantage point seems like a metaphor for Jacksons role as a director, so then his manner could be thought of as an expression of how Jackson sees the mood of the movie: unpresuming, but at the same time competent and ambitious. This unique combination of talent and self-effacement is also in evidence in later titles in Jacksons horror satire phase, Meet the Feebles and Brain Dead. To my mind his mainstream Hollywood output is a lot less inspired; before he retires, Id love to see Jackson use the resources made available by his newfound success to make a high-budget feature thats more in keeping with his roots.

Our story begins when molecular biologist Michael Dorn is accidentally infected with a new virus he is developing and his life takes a dramatic turn.
The virus, which he believed was initially designed as a cure for HIV, harbors something more sinister, turning its victims into vampires.
Now a threat to the very organization for which he worked, Michael is on the run, a tortured soul living off the streets as he battles to come to terms with his violent new existence as a blood predator.

The Theory:
For centuries the legend of the vampire has lived among us, the vampire as mythology knows it. Over time as man and technology evolved so to have the theories about the existence of vampires.
In 1962 a it is believed a scientist by the name of Dr Pedro Swift headed a classified medical study in a remote location in South Africa. The reason behind the study was to investigate an outbreak of an unknown virus believed to be responsible for turning natives into cannibalistic savages attacking randomly ripping their human victims to pieces. This created a panic among the natives and caught the attention of scientists such as Dr Swift.
To avoid unnecessary attention the study was recorded to be for the purpose of researching gastroenteritis but this was far from the truth. After capturing and quarantining some of the infected natives, tests were carried out and the results from blood tests revealed a virus of unknown origin.
Autopsy reports on the bodies of the victims revealed that they were drained of approximately 80% of their blood and there were no actual signs of cannibalism only numerous bite marks on the bodies of the victims. None of the victims flesh had been eaten, only punctured and lacerated.
The appearance of the infected natives was like nothing Dr Swift and his team had seen before. The pupils of their eyes were enlarged and black, they displayed extreme aggression, they had an aggressive appetite for human blood and increased strength far superior to that of a normal human.
During a testing procedure one of the infected natives got lose in the compound and crushed the skull of a scientist with his bare hands. The native was shot and killed or so they believed. After a few hours the body of the native ripped itself free of the body bag. The wounds on the body of the native had healed, leaving no apparent scaring. This struck fear through the team of scientists and it was later discovered that the only way to kill an infected native was to surgically remove their heart or incinerate them.
It was evident that Dr Swift had discovered a virus that displayed symptoms of vampirism but not as mythology knows it. These genetic vampires could walk by day and by night and the only features that distinguished them from humans was their black eyes, physically they looked like any other human. They were extremely aggressive and irritable though and none of the traditional methods such as holy water, crosses and stakes in the heart would kill them.
Due to the nature of the virus it is believed that all infected natives were captured and killed and their bodies incinerated so to stop any further spread of the virus. The medical team packed up and moved out of the South African township and the virus was labeled K-17 and written off as a degenerative Hantavirus spread by rodents.
Dr Pedro Swift or if that is in fact his name has not been seen or heard of since and his identity is still unknown to this day. There have been no photos found of Dr Swift or his team of scientists from the medical study.
All of the information we have gathered on K-17 or also known as RVK-17 is based on theory from various anonymous sources. It has been rumored that large pharmaceutical laboratories are currently researching K-17, but we are unable to confirm or deny this. In 1988 information regarding K-17 was removed from the public domain. We will continue to investigate into the K-17 virus but up until now we cannot get any of our anonymous sources to go public with their information.

The President condemns the despicable attacks at Fort Hood, honoring those who were killed and injured. This was sent to me today but I don’t know if this is the truth or just a rumor so please do your own research. The bottom line is that there is something fishy here and more than the USA/Military/Media Complex is reporting.

“In Washington, a senior U.S. official said authorities at Fort Hood initially thought one of the victims who had been shot and killed was the shooter. The mistake resulted in a delay of several hours in identifying Hasan as the alleged assailant.”
The truth is probably something VERY different. For example:
‘Two US privates John Smith and John Henry had been seeing a military psychiatrist major Hasan at Fort hood for a few weeks. Both privates said they were completely against the war of oppression in the middle east and would refuse to report for active duty if ordered to do so.
So the army put them both in therapy with Dr. Hasan. After more than five weeks of therapy both Christian privates were called to go to Afghanistan. Both privates warned they would not go and they would defend themselves with force if the army tried to force them to fight in a war they believed was morally wrong.
Yesterday fellow soldiers tried to surprize the two consciencious objectors but the privates were prepared and killed 12 soldiers who tried to force their way into the privates’ barracks at Fort Hood.During the mele their psychiatrist major Hasan, tried to talk the two privates into surrendering but he was shot twice.
Finally both privates were overcome and killed. Their psychiatrist major Hasan is in hospital recovering.’
Officials of the military have spun the story to make it seem the privates’ doctor (who has a muslim sounding name) was the perpetrator so that the public does not understand just how much resistance there is to the middle east war in the military rank and file.
The whole official Fort Hood cover story is 98% a lie.
