What is the problem with my website. I got a starter hosting package plus domain name and made the home page but when I write the URL http://codeexplained.com it shows me some messages about security certificates and asks me to log in using the username and password which the hosting company provided me. Also I sent the URLs to my friends and they say that the site shows only the text but not the pictures. Why?
It is not a free package. I have paid for it and the src in the img tag is also correct that is becuase when the page asks for my username and password that the host has provided me for the administration when entered then those pictures are shown but if I just cancel the dialog box that demands for the username and password then only the text is shown on the page.
you may also not be using the correct src for the image

So I am in the process of transferring my Domain Name from siteground to go daddy – I have completed most of the steps: Transaction Code, Security Code and Authorization Code. After all of that it made it sound like I was done, but when I click on "My Domains" it says I have none, and is still listing the Domain under "Pending Transfers" and says:
"The transfer is waiting for the customer to accept it at the losing registrar. If the customer does not accept the transfer at the losing registrar within 5 days, the transfer will be accepted automatically."
I dont understand whats going on because I have already authorized the transfer from my old registrar?? Any help is MUCH appreciated!
You have to go to siteground and and confirm that you want to transfer the domain. But there is no way to accept the transfer from siteground. I’m actually trying to the exact same thing also. The transfer will automatically happen in 5 days from the date you requested it so unless Customer service can do anything (they are being rather useless on the subject at the moment), it’s a waiting game.

linutics.net is being rejected and I am not notified. It is not in junk mail. I can’t find it anywhere. Until about a month ago I received email from linutics.net regularly. Some "update" must have changed a security setting somewhere. I have listed it as a good address domain name in Outlook. Can’t find how to do so in Yahoo nor Defender.
Sorry, my Yahoo Mail Plus Options screen does not offer the options you suggest. I can’t find the list of blocked or the whitelisted addresses. I’ve looked here several times before also.
Try checking your "blocked list" in Yahoo.
Mail page>>options (top right)>>mail options>>block addresses (which is under the Spam option).
IF you find that addresses on the list—click on it—click "remove block".
If those emails have been going to your Spam folder—go in there and open one and then click the "not spam" tab, and it will be returned to your inbox.
Make sure that address IS entered in your address book, to prevent the same thing happening over and over.

Ok, I purchased the domain name yesterday and the site said thank you for your order. This morning, they called me telling me that the domain name was cancelled, I asked why? They said, yes the charge did go through on your mastercard but we have refunded you the full money. Now, they told me to wait 6 hours for the domain name to perge out of the system so I can re order it.
I dont want to order of these people because they were rude and not willing to assist me. Surprisingly, it takes 48 hours for the domain name to get registered and be ready for use after the purchase and another 24 hours if you order on the weekend.
Can someone please recommend a nice domain name registration company fo me. Price doesnt matter, I am looking for quality support, and everything.A company that can offer me the domain name for use right away.
The request from 1and1 to receive proof of your identity is highly unusual and is something I have only ever experienced with registering Canadian domain names (.ca).
Also, most registrars will make your newly purchased domain name available to you to begin using within a few minutes, if not instantly. Someone answered above that you can’t use a domain until 24 to 48 hours after the domain is registered. This is not true.
The 24 to 48 hours wait time applies only to the time it takes for all of the Whois servers around the world to get updated with the new domain name information, including owner information and DNS servers. What this means to you is that your domain name will not resolve 100% of the time to your website (or parked page) until all Whois servers are updated with your domain’s DNS servers. This is what takes 24 to 48 hours. Some registrars (like 1and1) will make you wait before you can use your new domain, but GoDaddy and Moniker (and most others) do not make you wait.
You would do well to go with GoDaddy.com. I have been using them for years and their customer service is very good. Their prices are also some of the lowest in the industry. The user interface can be a bit aggravating, but if you only have a few domain names, it won’t be a big deal.
My registrar of choice is Moniker.com because their prices are also very low and their user interface is far superior to that of GoDaddy (very important when you manage hundreds of domain names, as I do), but their customer service is not great. Moniker also claims to have never lost a domain name (through fraud, theft, etc.).
If you only have a few domain names and you want excellent customer service, go with GoDaddy. If you own 50+ domains and don’t care about great customer service, but ease of portfolio management is a major factor, then go with Moniker.

Besides the Transaction & Security code which I already have godaddy is asking to get transfer code or password from you in order for it to be transfered. Could you please forward that other password to my e-mail. snejati@yahoo.com as soon as possible.
This might not be the appropriate place to ask for that. Try this:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/domains/authcode/authcode-02.html
You can also try their contact form:
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus/
Or their toll-free phone # 866-781-9246 (which I’m not too hopeful of).
If none of those help, try their "upstream" domain provider Melbourneit.com.

I plan to sign up from Yahoo (register my own domain name), do I also need its others services like the free space, email, security? What if I register only the domain name and create my own website and store my stuffs in my own computer? Assuming I will have my PC turned on 24 hr and connected to Internet. Please advise.
Yup, you need to have a webhosting plan and even though you could technically use your own PC as a server (albeit a very crappy one), you’d be absolutely mad to do so.
My advice to you would be to sign up at http://www.ixwebhosting.com, it’s only $3.99 a month and you’ll get a free domain name as well.
If you want cheaper than there’s 1and1.com but be warned. according to people who’ve used 1and1, they’re not exactly what you would call great.

Ok, so here is my situation.
There is this domain name that I would really like to have for my service and is very relevant for the service I eventually want to provide (for security and explainative purposes, let’s just say this domain name is short and somewhat easy to recognize).
After further research, I found that it has page rank zero, has no alexa ranking, only a couple of worthless sites linking to it, and has one of those ugly landing pages with more ads. So I Contact the owner figuring that it would come at a pretty cheap price. WRONG!
The person selling it wanted a five figure sum for it (anything more than three was too much for me). Is there anyone else that thinks this is too much for a domain name that essentially does not have any traffic or other web asset; just a short name?
My main question is: how can I negotiate them down to my desired price even though it may be 1% of what they’re asking?
I wasn’t trying to be unreasonable. My budget isn’t all that much and I initially thought that given then traffic and history of the domain name, it would fall within that budget. I suppose not. I guess I will negotiate with the believe that I will not get it, and just be able to walk away.
It is all the seller’s wish to come down with the price. I would advise you to select another domain name. As you are starting your business, don’t let off cash too much at this starting stage.
Check out more names with hyphens. You’ll surely get a good one!
Good luck!

I purchased a domain name that I have had for years (Created on: 31-Jul-95).
I have had the domain registered for years with godaddy and I keep the registration at 10 years out which is the maximum allowed by domain registration companies.
In fact when the registration went down to 9 years in the past I would immediately pay for the registration to go back up to 10 years (maximum). I did this for security reason because if the domain name is at the maximum registration years it is impossible to move it outside of registrar (godaddy).
On July 31, 2009 my domain name went down to 9 years registration, so the next day August 1, 2009 I paid for another year pushing the registration back to 10 years. On November 3, 2009 I typed in my website domain name and its down. So I log into my godaddy account and my domain name is not listed in my account.
I contact godaddy and they inform me that someone pressed the cancel button on the domain name, so they took it and resold my domain that I had paid for 10 years out. I never pressed the cancel button don’t even know where that is and not sure why any registration would have that button on an account.
Godaddy is informing that they can’t do anything for me. Even though the new godaddy registrant never purchased any years on the domain, nor was it acquired via expiration, and the domain name was never transferred to him by me. And I’m even out the money on the prepaid 10 years registration.
Any suggestion or help would be appreciated by me.
Provide them a copy of your statement showing you paid for another year, and then tell them to rectify the problem or you’ll be in touch with ICANN (The authority which oversees GoDaddy and other registrars.). If this does not work, then go ahead and file a complaint with http://www.icann.org/en/udrp/udrp.htm and they’ll restore it to you.

I think the only recourse you have is to try and get further up the line at Godaddy. In my opinion that is the worst registrar out there. Very hard to navigate there site without customer service on the line.
you would have had to get a email notification of some sort to validate the cancelation. They should be able to verify that for you. You should be able to get your domain back but it will take hard work on your part. I have found that the defenses that these registrars have in place to prevent this kind of mischief also make it extremely hard to gain access back into your account after someone has hacked into.
I had something similar happen to my account at Bluehost.com, but they listened to me and were willing to dig deeper and followed the transfer process and were able to determine that it was all done illigally. But i had to prove everything. They wouldnt give me any information.
I wish you luck, and when you get it back, i suggest transferring to Bluehost. They are fantastic.
