What is a domain name for on a blog?
I’m quite a beginner on blogging, I’ve just started my own blog from the last two months (blogging was great!:) and well, I was just wondering what a domain name was for, it’s quite unclear to me, plus why does it cost money?
oh yeah, I know that they get the .com stuff and all, but I’m just wondering what it’s for, ’cause you see, I have a tumblr…

A domain name is something like: Myblog.com
A free somain name would look like: Myblog.blogger.com
It cost money because it takes up server space. Servers cost about $5000 each so they have to make some money to pay it off.
