How to transfer web hosting from vistaprint?

I have a website with Vistaprint, and I’d like to transfer it to a different host so I can build my own site. I want to keep my current domain name, so just getting a new domain name isn’t an option. The problem is, the whois lists vistaprint as the owner, so I can’t log in to tucows to change where the DNS points to. Vistaprint’s customer service absolutely sucks and has been no help at all. Am I screwed here?

Ouch. You will have to work with Vistaprint to put the domain in your name before it can be transferred. Hence, you have to work with their customer service. Painful I know. Sorry.

The next bit of hassle will be moving your website files to your new host. This process never seems to go right. Read a review of a host I suggest you get hosting from when you’re moving a website – http://www.website-hosting-reviews.net/host-gator.html. Try to move the files yourself, and if you run into issues call ‘em up for their free help.

It is a must that you must be listed as the admin email contact for the domain name in order to transfer it away to another domain registration provider.
The reason is that you need to approve the transfer and the transfer request will only go to the admin email contact of the domain name which should be you.
    Hope this helps.

Is the domain a .com or a subdomain like YouName.VistaPrint.com if its a subdomain then you wont be able to transfer it because VistaPrint owns it. I checked the website and try this link to contact them : http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/ns/sign_in.aspx?rurl=%2fcustomer-care%2fcontact-us-faqs.aspx&skip_login=1&noguest=1

You can Transfer you domain to http://www.inWebHosting.com for just 7.49$ and i use it personally and the hosting account is also cheap and reliable with good support. You can check the customer support section.
