where do you complain if a web host is reneging on their unlimited domains offer?

I just paid for a plan which claims unlimited domain names included in the hosting. As soon as I started asking about how to add new domains, they changed the help screen in my cpanel (no more manage domains button) and they don’t reply to my emails. I am still within 30-days money back guarantee, but I want to give them a chance to respond first.

It seams you have given them the opportunity to respond. If you have opened a support ticket with the company and they have not responded to you then I would contact billing and first ask for a refund. If it is not given I would file a claim with the company you used to make payment to them. I would also suggest looking up some web hosting review site’s and writing a review about the company so others searching this company up can see your personal experience. Hope this helps!

Question about domain names and web hosting?

I am wanting to develope a website for my personal training service. Does anyone know any sites with either totally free domain name registration/ free web hosting or cheap domain name/and free web hosting?

1. free domain name registration/ free web hosting – doesn’t exist

2. cheap domain name/and free web hosting – that does exist but doesn’t work really well, for a cheap domain name I recommend Godaddy (you can get it for $7.69), for free web hosting I don’t recommend any

3. cheap hosting (free domain name included) would be the best option, like one of these: http://www.webhostingtable.com/

Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

Their hosting plan includes web builder, so you can create your site just by drag and drop (without any programming), or you could install Wordpress (easy, one click install from their control panel), choose a theme that you like, and start adding content.

I own two web domains that one redirects to the other one. Should I get more domains to increase SEO ranking?

I have two real estate domains. However, one domain redirects immediately to the other one. I want this real estate site to be successful and bring in more leads for the company. Will it help if I buy another catchy domain names and redirects the content to the same one?

Work on your main site. Content is king.

Real estate is a hard market, especially now. Find your niche and concentrate on that. If your area is Mayberry, South Carolina then concentrate on that area. Write articles about that area and what people may like about it. Then get links to those articles and your website. Use good title tags and don’t spam.

Does Google Analytics work with two domain names?

Hi,

I’ve just put up a website and used Google Analytics and it is working just fine. However, I want to buy a new domain name that goes to the same site, and track how many people visit that domain name, and compare it to the first domain name. Does Google Analytics track just the website, or does it track who goes to which domain name?

Sorry if this sounds a bit confusing!
Thanks!

Yes Google Analytics will let you track multiple domains. I would also caution against using a doorway site into yours. You actually can build 2 unique domains serving a common purpose.

Site 1) Is in a direct response format
Site 2) Is in a educational, unbiased format.

Otherwise I’d stick to one domain…safer that way.

IMO,

Good Luck

I want to register about five domain names. What are good, cheap private domain registration sites?

I’m not planning on posting any websites right now, I just want to reserve the domains so there are there when I need them. How do I do this cheaply?

I have domains on :

register.com, networksolutions.com, and godaddy.com

I would say godaddy.com is the cheapest and is reliable

What is the difference between web hosting, domains and such?

I am a high school coach who wants to be able to share information such as practice times, game results, roster info, etc. What are the cheapest(free/no ad) ways to share that information? I thought I wanted my own website. What about domain names?

To register your own domain name, something like www.coachk.com, you’d have to do that through a provider. You can’t get that done free. I recommend 1and1, link below.

There are free options available, but your website will be something like coachk.someprovider.com.

There’s a ton of host for that, but if you want one free, with no ads, I recommend X10 Hosting, link below.

What is the solution for search engine optimizing multiple domains from the same IP?

I’m optimizing a site which have multiple domain names hosting from the same IP for different languages. Now the other domain name is redirecting to the main domain name. I want to optimize all domains for search engines. Beside the main domain, other domains are not indexed by the search engines yet. What sort of extra task to be made to index all the domains from the same IP address?

Well if you are trying to get your websites that are in another language indexed for that country then you might want to look into hosting that website from that country. Lets say one of your sites is in Italian and you want it to rank on Google.it then you will want to actually host that website.it domain name in italy so you can rank better on there search engine. This way you are targeting the correct audience for that specific language. I wouldn’t want to target the US if I have a site that is in all Italian.

The search engines look at the IP address of the website, so if they are all hosted in the US then you do not stand as good a chance of competing with that Italian website that is hosted in Italy. It falls down to geo targeting, so you want to target the correct audience for the correct domain name you are using.

How do sites like go daddy register the domain names?

I want to host my own domain name, but don’t know how to go about it. Does anyone have any websites on this?

You need to understand how DNS work on the internet before you start. Those are the high level steps you will need to host your own domain:

1. Install DNS Server Service on your server
2. Create DNS Zone for your domain
3. Configure delegation for your domain to point to your server; in other words: set NS record of your domain to point to your server

For example, here how resolution for www.JordanSoft.com works on the internet:

Query sent to the Root DNS servers for www.JordanSoft.com; answer returned for the DNS server delegated for the .com name space

Query sent to the DNS server delegated for the .com name space for www.JordanSoft.com; answer returned for the DNS server delegated for the JordanSoft.com name space

Query sent to the DNS server delegated for the JordanSoft.com name space; answer returned for the IP address of www.JordanSoft.com

Simply, it is like a conversation:

DNS Client ask the Root DNS: Send me www.JordanSoft.com
Root DNS Answer: Ask .COM with directions where is .COM
DNS Client ask the .COM DNS: Send me www.JordanSoft.com
.COM DNS Answer: Ask JordanSoft.com with directions where is JordanSoft.com
DNS Client as the .JordanSoft.com DNS: Send me www.JordanSoft.com
JordanSoft.com DNS Answers: The IP address of www.JordanSoft.com is w.x.y.z

Is it illigal ? to create your own technology for creating domain names and Own server?

Would it be illagal to make your own domain names as much as you want with your own created technology ..and create your own server..

Domain names are controlled by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers http://www.icann.org/ to prevent people to just creating domain names as much as they want.

If you have a new technology and new ways of creating domain names, you need to go through ICANN first.

Hi,recently purchased 3 domain name from yahoo domains.I wanted to transfer these domains to my existing site,

when I went to transfer domains to my web site ,I couldnt get things to transfer.Basically said -no can do.Italked to someone from help dept. over the phone.I could not understand what the person was saying.but it sounded like he told me to cancel my plan with yahoo and the domain names would be back on the market very soon. Its been approx. 2 weeks and data bases still say sorry not available. When will they be back on line for purchase. gamestersedge.com
gamestersedge.biz
gamestersedge.net
please give me some sort of an answer on when and msybe why?

When a domain name is registered, it cannot be transferred for 60 days. A good tool to use to track the 60 day period is WHOIS. A popular web site that runs WHOIS is www.whois.sc. This site states that your domain name was registered on 8-2-06. Thus you have to wait until 10-2-06 before you can move it to another registrar.

I assume you want to move your domain names from Yahoo to another domain name registrar like GoDaddy or NSI. If this is the case, you can move your names from Yahoo post 10-2.

If you are looking to simply change the DNS so your domain names can be hosted with another hosting company, I would call Yahoo back and ask what their policy is on this. It may be possible to keep your domain names at Yahoo (as the registrar) but move them to another dns provider now [like verio or earthlink]. Each company has its own policy on dns. So, check with Yahoo one more time on this one.

I hope this helps you.
