What is a quality web host for a starter?
I’m looking to get a .com Domain name and some hosting, I don’t need any extremely fancy hosting, just something inexpensive and reliable.
Also my goal is to install wordpress, I know some hosts have 1 click wordpress installation.

For all of my clients and my small sites I use http://www.hostamina.com. What is great about them, and perfect for you, is that they will install wordpress for you at no extra charge. They also have the one click install for wordpress as well as tons of other blogging software.
I personally use them because their customer service is top notch and they do not oversell their accounts. This is much important to me because my clients will not be happy with me if their sites go down. If you visit their website, you will see that have plans as cheap as $5 a month I believe. I’ve also registered a couple of domains with them.

I host my wordpress blogs on hostgator. They have the 1 click installation and I haven’t had any problems. Support has been great, even fixed a minor problem I had on a Sunday. Hi everyone,
I thought of sharing my thoughts of this web host as they’re the best hosting people I’ve met. Webhostingpad is one of the best and most affordable web hosting services out there. Their fees for hosting are decent and very affordable if you are on a tight budget.
This is my first paid host, and i really admire their services. The factor i was looking for was the price and features and they made the sweet spot with a discount. Boy was i happy.

I feel your pain. I run a web directory, and uptime was an important factor for me. For as many hosts out there, you will find an equal number of good and bad stories.
