Last year, January 25, I created a website. Keep in mind, I’m not that educated with this sort of thing, and I just have been trying my best to learn as I go. I went with JustHost.com, and they were a nightmare. I tried to cancel my account, and they wouldn’t let me. I’ll spare you the details, but after 2 months of fighting with them, I contacted a guy who builds & maintains websites for people & businesses for a living. Even he thought it was absolutely ridiculous, the way JustHost was doing business. Anyway, I had to just cancel that particular card that JustHost was charging, so THEY would cancel ME for non-payment. That worked. Well, my website expired Jan 25th, & apparently I am under a “grace period” of some sort. I have no idea how to renew my domain name! I can’t login, because my user name & password was canceled by JustHost when I canceled that card. So I’m totally at a loss as to how I can renew it. I tried calling JustHost, but after a little over an hour of being placed on hold, and having NEVER talked to a live person, I hung up…this was all too familiar from last year, anyway, I have NEVER talked to a live person at JustHost. So …anyone have any bright ideas?
I want to start a website that will have restaurant/recipe type of “stuff” on there…I will not be selling anything on there “right now.” Anyways…the domain name that I wanted was taken, but when I typed in in the URL, it said that the domain name had expired three days ago. But when I checked on godadddy, It wasn’t available at the moment. I wanted to take that name and add the word “online” to it…so it would be “Blah blah Online.com.” It said that the domain name wasn’t taken, so do you think it’s ok to use that domain name? Or no? I’m so lost, and I’m sure you are after reading this too. Thanks!
I registered a “.com” domain name 5 years ago but never used it for anything. It’s short (two words) and easy to remember. Now I want to make a blog and was going to use this name. The blog will have ads so it’s a business project.
I just did a web search on the name and found out it’s also the name of a product made by a California company, and they have a registered trademark on it.
What should I do? Write and ask their permission to use it as a blog name, or try to sell them the domain name and use another one for the blog? I don’t know if they could sue me and take the name away if I use it for a business.
