Cybersquatting, upcoming movie question.?

I’m just learning about cybersquatting. I have some questions. Heres my scenario:

I recently purchased the domain name CLOVERFIELD-2.COM in hopes of a sequel to the blockbuster movie cloverfield would be produced. I was hoping to sell the domain sooner (to people who buy/sell domains), or later (to the actual promoters of the movie). I didn’t know of cybersquatting when I bought this, and now i’m worried.

I also have the domain up for sale (for 500$) on ebay right now .. am i in any immediate legal danger? Should I cancel the auction, and even perhaps unregister the domain?

Or is it only illegal if the movie is developed, and I decline to surrender the domain?
I have since ended the auction, and the domain is no longer being promoted as on sale.

Does just owning the domain, (and not using it) put me in any legal danger?

Steal a Trademark question?

Okay, so pretty much the most of this huge company/site’s trademarks are now dead/abandoned according to the registry.

They have 200+ million users, and are a HUGE site worldwide…so their name is valuable to them.

Would I be able to hire a patent/trademark lawyer, and ’steal’ these from them like a domain, since they expired? Then would I be able to sue the company for tons of money for continuing to use them?

I’m just curious how this would work legally.

It seems practical, and legal.

Their comp nay name expired last year, and most of their other 100 trademarked words just expired n January. Non have been re-registered yet.
When I said this site, I’m not talking about Yahoo XD

I’m talking about another site that was sold a while back for half a billion dollars. lol
I’m not actually going to do this. I’m just curious how it would work out if I did.
I actually do own a very similar site, which I could use to cover up my reason for the trademark?

Then I could be exploitative later ^_^

What would you do with Binladin’s former website? Serious question: what to you do?

On September 11th, 2001 I took part in a strange coincidence: The Binladin family owned a website which (coincidentally?) expired on the same day which their son attacked the United States. What I did is write a computer program which captured the domain name the instant when it expired (late Sept). Once I had the domain name, I placed my own web server and an email server against this domain name and former Binladin website. I have captured gigabytes worth of emails which have led to a variety of news articles and TV interviews, etc – but, it has always been a curiosity and unknown part of the 9-11 story for most people. The website is: http://www.saudi-binladin-group.com/. There are a variety of news articles at various sources, such as: WIRED: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2001/11/48254 .

What would you do with this? I have tried to turn this into a message of peace and cooperation among all people.

Serious question and respectful answers only please …

GoDaddy Domain Name Question?

After I purchase and register a domain name from GoDaddy.com, how soon can I put it on their auction site? Is there a block on how long I must wait before being able to push it to someone else? Any help would be great, thanks.

question about trademark laws?

If I want to use a domain name, but part of it already has a trademark, then would I be infringing on the trademark by using the domain name to sell clothing?

Example: blue collar nation has a trademark

But if I have the domain name bluecollarnation.com, and I sell clothes labeled bluecollarnation, would that be considered infringement or dilution?

Question about Domain redemption – serious problems….?

Need help about domain redemption?
I’m having the most horrible time redeeming my domain name. I was never notified that the domain was expiring for one. Next, I have to pay 100- to redeem. Next, they are requiring I that the information in my Google App’s acct and my GoDaddy account are exactly the same. I did not sign up for a GoDaddy account until a year after I purchased the domain so I don’t remember anything, I moved, etc.

I had to contact domains by proxy to get my google apps acct information so I can match it. Then, they are asking me for my domain’s business license. I don’t have one – I never was asked to provide one when I bought the domain. It’s never been owned by anyone but me.

What can I do? I’ve lost a week of work because of this. I cannot get my contacts, emails, documents that are in that email acct. My clients are getting upset.

I’m at a loss….this has been going on for a week. One person even told me today that if I cannot get this information (the business license) I won’t get my domain back which means I won’t get my emails and documents and contacts back.

Let me clarify about the business license: I am a consultant, I do 1099 work, but I got the domain to correspond with everyone instead of having a personal email. But I put my consulting name as the business name. I don’t know about all of this. I was never asked to provide any business license when they sold it to me – why would I have to show one to get my domain back? Isn’t my Drivers License sufficient…what if they won’t give it back to me? Do they then take all of my contacts, documents and correspondence?

I feel like suing them over this…I’ve lost a week of work, my clients are upset, I can’t access documents, etc.
I have been on the phone with everyone for a week now. It all has to be done over email.

Domain name registration question?

What if the company that I registered my domain name with has closed down? Let’s say that I have registered my domain name under that company for one year and the company closed down after 8 months, will I still be able to use my domain name until it expires?
