Hello I could really use the advice, and will be so grateful to any help.
I have a domain name. I just signed up for a free message board from active board. Now can I make it so that my domain is the message board intead of the sedo.com one that is already set up? Do I just go and enter the web address as the primary server name?
Thanks so much.

Now, the domain name that I want to use is “lahomegain”. Of course this has nothing to do with homegain; I don’t want to be associated with those crooks. Would this raise any flags with trademark law or?

Two, I’ve read a lot on here, and if I’m correct – I would buy the name from godaddy.com, and then sell it on sedo.com? Does that make sense. Then where to go from there? Just need some more info. on all of this, I’m eager to start, but want my questions cleared up. THank you!!

Has anyone done domain parking and made money at it? How exactly does it work? Is Sedo a good place to park your domains? When you park a domain, is there a counter so you can keep track of how many visitors were attracted? Thanks!

Hey! There is this expired domain name that I really want to buy, since it would be great for my site. The only problem is that I found out that previously the domain had been used for something illegal. (I think a pyramid scheme.) Would I be held responsible if I bought the domain? Thanks!

I purchased the domain name www.barefootphotographers.com for our new photography studio just 5 days ago. Today in the mail I received a letter by the owner of the name The Barefoot Photographer requesting that I discontinue use of the name that I purchased through GoDaddy.com. She registered the trademark The Barefoot Photographer. According to the trademark register copy that she sent me:
For Art Prints, in class 16
For Education services, namely providing lectures and workshops in the field of photography; photography services, in class 41
The mark consists of standard characters, without claim to any particular font, style, or color.
No claim is made to the exclusive right to use “photographer”, apart from the mark as shown.
Can I still use the domain I purchased and use the name in my town. I shoot weddings in a 60 mile radius from my town in VA. She is in Georgia. I’ve contacted 5 attorneys and waiting for them to call me back. But any help before someone calls me next week would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, the domain I purchased is www.thebarefootphotographers.com
I have no desire to sell her the domain I purchased as this is a name we have been discussing for over a year now. So that isn’t a problem.
Wow, bcnu. I don’t think you read it clearly. I haven’t used the business name. Only registered the name and was getting ready to open a studio under said name. So I have no mess to get out of.
I am amazed that someone actually told the the photographer about this. Nice.

If I run a website ourlinkmarket.com but there is a website already called linkmarket.com which is a trademark, am i allowed to run and operate this type of name which is a similiar business or is there a copyright or impersonation issue here?

I recently received a letter from a lawyer accusing me of trademark infringement in regards to a domain name I own. I have a single, retail location in Ohio named “The Fabulous Flea” Market that sells antiques & houseware. At the time I opened the store I also registered and created a website named www.fabulousflea.com (thefabulousflea.com was already taken). Apparently somebody in Texas also has a similar store named the same thing and has trademarked it (hers was opened in ‘04 and mine in ‘05). She wants my website. I don’t have money for a lawyer, but have read up on infringement and am still unclear as I think the name is more descriptive than proprietary. Is she trying to bully me out of my website name or does she have a legal right to it?

Edward registered for the domain name happy-meal.com because he knew that the world-renowned restaurant, Happy Meal, would want to use the same domain name. Happy Meal could protect its interests in its trademarked name by
1. filing suit under Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act OR
2. filing suit for trade mark dilution
