When is a domain name most valuable…when the product related to the domain name first comes out, or once it is established? Is it better to auction off domain names at certain times of the year?

actually, i guess it’s not the domain name itself i’m concerned about. it’s my account with yahoo/ geocities. i signed up about a year ago, and have paid for a year’s worth, but haven’t received any notice about what i should do to keep it going…
