how do i open my own website / server ?

so i want to open my own website and i went on godaddy.com and it seems pretty legit. i have a name for my website and what i want to do with it. only thing is i want to be my own server, i dont want to depend on anyone else, is that possible? or is it better to depend on someone else like “godaddy”.
im also not great at writing websites and codes etc and i know godaddy helps with that. i want a auction based website. is it possible for godaddy to help me with that?
other than the 7.99 a month and 12.99 for the domain name will they take any other costs from me?

again i would rather be my own server how can i go about doing that?

Which website idea is better?

Hello. I would like to make six figures a year. I have two website ideas.

1. A website where users can sign up and list, buy, sell, and auction their websites and domain names. Website flipping is a huge business, and many people want an already made and established website. People with established websites sometimes like to sell their site and make cash. It is a marketplace for websites. I would make money by charging a small commission to the seller and by having ads on the website.

Pros- cool idea, they have already made scripts for $50
Cons- competing with flippa and site point and websitebroker which are already established.

2. Consultants is a huge business, however, people with online businesses and websites also need help with how they should run their company. This would be a website based around a unique points system. The person who needs help with their website would buy 10 tokens for a small fee per token in order to post a question about their site. They could then post a snapshot along with the URL and questions they have about marketing, revenue, etc. Other users could then answer the questions and give feedback. Once the post closes, the ten points are distributed as follows. If there are more than 5 people who answered, only the top 5 chosen by the question poster gets 1 point each. If there are more than two but less than five, top two get two points. If there is only one poster and he has a good answer, he gets five points. The remaining five or six points are mine. If no one posts on your question within a month, you get your refund or can use points again later. You can also trade in points for cash and for prizes with people with many points. At first when the site is in beta, if there is a automatic posting thing used by scammers, users can flag them and I would manually delete the accounts. After beta, we would install a spam free security system that detects and prevents spam. I would make money by selling points and ads on the site.

Pros- great new idea, money from different sources
Cons- startup costs are huge since I would have to hire a web design firm.

3. Sell wholesale products from doba on ebay.

People have been telling me in order to get rich, you have to start a business. So those are my business ideas. However, this year, I am being promoted to partner at my management consulting firm and will be making seven figures each year as partner. I would then go onto a fortune 500 media company like viacom, time Warner, or news corp, apply for a senior management/executive position and make multi millions each year. Is it worth even starting a business. Maybe with my millions, I could afford to start number 2 if you think it is a good idea? However, I don’t need a business to make me rich. I’ve already become rich living off of my six figure salary from my firm and soon to be million dollar salary.

How to Connect Your New Domain to Your Website

quesomanrulz.com / twitter.com – One of the questions I get the most is asking how to connect a website to a DNS domain. When I set up this for this site I too had a problem understanding how these “nameservers” were supposed to work and how to use them. For this very reason, I created this tutorial on how to connect your domain to your website’s hosting. It’s pretty simple to do this but the method itself is not very clear. If you have further questions about this process you can always ask your questions at forum.quesomanrulz.com godaddy.com byethost.com

Which website idea should i start?

Over the summer, I would like to start an online business. My goal is to eventually make six or more figures a year. I have a few ideas, but I’m not sure which idea sounds the most profitable.

1. A website where users can list, buy, sell, trade, and auction off websites and or domain names. A place whee people can buy and sell websites. I would allow people to create an account for free, and a seller could list his website or domain name for sale by paying a small fee. A other user could buy the site he/she wants with the buy now price, or be entered into the auction for the site where they compete with other people. Right now, there is only one site that does this called flippa.com. The problem is, everyone hates the high fee they charge to list a site (19 bucks). I already have a script for my site, and if I charge smaller fee, create a user interactive friendly version, and implement my marketing plans, I could easily beat flippa. Flippa is making some good money (4-5k a day).

Pros: make money from selling ad space and charging small fee. Not much competition.
Cons: not really any.

2. I would buy golf bags, clubs, shoes, etc. Wholesale, and dropship them to customers on my website. The problem is, I’m competeting with huge names like golf galaxy, golfers union, and thousands of sites.

3. It would be like image shack. It would be a website where users pay a fee, and then they can store, host and share images on my secure server.

4. Sell hosting plans. Start a web hosting company. There is tons of competition.
Although I like all ideas, I think I’m aiming at the first idea. Do you think it could be profitable? Do you think it could make me six or more figures a year?

Thanks.

website is cached ? help!?

I’ve got a website crunchyanime.com that used to redirect to www.gameturf.net however i removed the redirect and it is still redirecting when you try to visit crunchyanime.com i asked the domain providers and they said this but i dont understand ..

The reason why you are being redirected to Dynadot is because your
website is cached. The easiest way to clear the cache is to clear the
files in your browser and then restart your computer. If that doesn’t fix
it, you might have to wait for the cache to expire. Everyone who
visited your site prior to you changing the Name Servers would also have to
clear their cache.
