My registrar says the domain expired in January and wants to charge me $200 to reclaim it. But WHOIS lists me in all three places, and says that domain is registered until January 2008.
Last year I purchased a domain address and my personal information (name, address and phone number) was stored on the Whois database, as I believe it is for alot of web domain registrations. My one year ownership of this web address has since expired however my personal information is still listed on the Whois database. How can I have this information removed?
I am attempting to restart a site I closed down a few years ago, but my domain appears to have be off limits temporarily,
“This domain is parked, pending renewal, or has expired.
Please contact the domain provider with questions.”
It does not look like it is being used at all.
I looked up the domain in the Whois database and here is what I receive.

Thanks

The whois info shows that the domain expired on 08-14-06. When does this domain become available again for purchase if original owner does not renew? Please advise on domain expiration procedures. Thanks.
I paid my subscription 2 weeks after it expired and now some anonymous person is using it. My domain provider won’t answer my letters or emails. Should I just give up on this and just register a new domain name and cut my losses?
http://www.businesswebbasics.com Hi, my name is Ann Premazon, creator and author of Business Web Basics. In this video I define what a registrant, registrar, technical contact, and administrative contact are. How to use the WHOIS information to find and monitor this information. This Business Web Basics class was held in Seal Beach on December 2008. It was invite only to some of my best clients and business contacts, but I want to share some great insights here with you for free. I discussed many things that revolve around building a successful web presence. I wanted to let people know that it can be very simple, If you know the Basics. I wanted to share with you about buying a domain name for your website and making sure youre the registered owner, getting a web address or host for your site, building the website, having your site show organically where you want it (SEO) and have your advertising (PPC) show where you want it. Finally I want you to know that you have to test, track, analyze, and repeat to build a winning web strategy.
http://live.pirillo.com – Clint asks “Is it a good investment to block personal info from a whois lookup to see that I own the site. We tell our kids how dangerous it is to put personal info out there; does it apply to adults? My name, phone number and home address is out there for the world to see. What is safe to put out there? I just dont know what content to include, and what to omit.”
