Most reviews say new versions of Real Media Player (11) and Windows Media Player (11) are buggy. But how can I arrange to download those earlier versions safely from other websites besides the companies’ own websites , since for WMP Windows requires new authentication procedures and neither site hosts the earlier versions. I’m not sure which of the download sites I can find on google that might host them are safe, spyware free, like download.com is, because sites like download.com and tucows no longer carry the earlier versions. Any suggestions? I’ve got a variery of anti-spyware programs and spyware blaster, but I don’t want to take needless risks to get the earlier versions of these media players. And I still want to use them in addition to to VLC player favored by techies.
Update: All I saw was the LATEST version of the best-known media players; I’m seeking the EARLIER versions. Under Windows Media Player, I only saw WMP 11, no “legacy versions,” like WMP 10, which is what I’m seeking for my laptop. REal Media, apparently, has a legacy section, but not Windows Media Player. Any other suggestions?
