On September 11th, 2001 I took part in a strange coincidence: The Binladin family owned a website which (coincidentally?) expired on the same day which their son attacked the United States. What I did is write a computer program which captured the domain name the instant when it expired (late Sept). Once I had the domain name, I placed my own web server and an email server against this domain name and former Binladin website. I have captured gigabytes worth of emails which have led to a variety of news articles and TV interviews, etc – but, it has always been a curiosity and unknown part of the 9-11 story for most people. The website is: http://www.saudi-binladin-group.com/. There are a variety of news articles at various sources, such as: WIRED: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2001/11/48254 .
What would you do with this? I have tried to turn this into a message of peace and cooperation among all people.
Serious question and respectful answers only please …
I would like to make a profit on the internet. I found out that you can use Godaddy.com to create a domain name and then sell it in a auction. I was just wondering if someone would know more about this or know someone that has done this. Did it bring positive results or not.
I have bought a domain name and eventually would like to set up an online store with a business partner. For now I am thinking of trying out yahoo auctions. Can my business partner and I link our individual existing yahoo emails to the auction account ? Or should we set up a new email account so both of us can log in with the same password? Thank you
I have a strong background in everything involving the computer, from networking to webdesign, graphics, video editing, flash, coding, video games, hardware, software, to domaining, and search engine optimization. I setup my parent’s business network, server, and computer systems. I had to make a dummy system so that if one internet provider fails, my parents can just plug in another cable into the switch for their other internet provider. Internet connection is vital for my Dad’s business, any downtime is potentially thousands of dollars lost. I love working with people. I love working on hard and very difficult tasks, even tasks which are meticulous. I am easy going and a very friendly person. I have a deep desire and willingness to learn new things. I am a quick learner. I often view source-code for languages of scripts I have not learned yet and try to make sense of them to modify and create new code. Just a hobby I enjoy doing. One of my greatest passions besides computers is photography. I setup my own portfolio at: www.silentemotion.com Video Compilations Visiting My Girlfriend in California: www.youtube.com One Year Anniversary – Huntington Beach California: www.youtube.com I would love to work with the DeFranco team in assisting in any way possible. I have found the domain name michaelvick.tv that I would like to purchase it is appraised on tdnam.com (godaddy’sauction site for $1,077 the asking price is $999 my it department iinformed me that .TV is the next big investment for websites and I strongly believe this site will generate tons of traffic in turn a great profit. What type of content can I put on this site and is there a way to buy this now and end the auction before I am outbid?
Microsoft hosts an annual conference called MIX and they have a domain name every year, for example www.mix2010.com. I assume most people use this easy-to-remember domain name to get to microsoft’s MIX sub-page on their microsoft domain name and host. Assuming they get this format of a domain name every year, and Microsoft will be looking to buy www.mix2011.com next year, do you think they’ll really need it? I saw it was available and to see if they’d pay for it, I set it up for auction at GoDaddy.com. I set the buy-now price as $50,000. Do you think Microsoft will pay this price next year when they’re looking to buy it? Or are they going to change the standard of naming just because of me? If they wait for the domain name to expire (5th March 2011) then it’ll be too late for their conference, and I don’t think it’ll become available right away. Or do you think they’ll pay the auction price of $10,000 and wait for me to approve?
What are your oppinions and do you think I made a right move paying $10 for a domain name that I may receive 5000 times in return?
Would it be copyright infringement to use a trademarked name in part of a domain name for a web site? The name I am considering using is a made up name of a character. A similar example would be ‘Shrek’, the animated character in the movie of the same title. It would be used in conjunction with other non-trademarked words, an example being www.shrekforthewin.com. The service I would be providing is in no way related to the actual character, though I do not know if that would make a difference. Does it change things if I would be making some money through advertisements and endorsements on the site?
The whois info shows that the domain expired on 08-14-06. When does this domain become available again for purchase if original owner does not renew? Please advise on domain expiration procedures. Thanks.
I own MillionBucks.com and I want to get it appraised so I could sell it. A potential buyer requested that I get an appraisal from a company she trusted (allfordomains.com). I did, but the deal fell through. I’m still interested in selling but I want a second or third appraisal.
